Need a storyteller function.

Converts git messages and other repo events into an examinable history in-game. Think timeline from CIV6.

Alternative or in addition: can include mission like things. See quest function from Endless Legend or Endless Space 2.

Use AI to fill out variety for events. Or we will have a collection of manually made events by us. Provide both options.
