GDAL generated input format #209

Hi Sebastian,
The dem format is not a standard format, it is just an anuga format which provides a binary (netcdf) copy of an asc type data file. So I'm not surprised that gdal had trouble with it. I would suggest using gdal on the asc, prj files instead.
But if you have a tiff file then your use of the utility function qs.composite_quantity_setting_function is the way to go (of course under the hood, this function uses gdal to read tiff file).

I am trying to use GeoTIFF data for the terrain and convert it through GDAL to be usable by anuga.dem2pts directly. I took the cairns.dem file as target file format. gdalinfo delivers information as follows:
