We want our trainees to be able to reason about what a computer is actually doing when they tell it to do things. That computers are real.

In sprint 1 we want

Some things we'd like trainees to understand:

  • Finite capacity (e.g. the size of a byte, size of memory, some memory is faster/slower than others)
  • Why things take time (both CPU-wise and network-wise)

This could be roughly How Computers Work chapter 7 (if we have rights)

The entire complexity module

Is building on these introductions. We want to cover these learning objectives: https://sdc.codeyourfuture.io/complexity/sprints/1/success/ and https://sdc.codeyourfuture.io/complexity/sprints/2/success/

We need to do this in ways that help our trainees reason, help our trainees in interviews, but do not require them to know what a logarithm is, or derive equations from first principles.
