Masherbrum (K1) - Release 1 - Beta 1
Changes from Alpha 6:
- Add Ascender Variant Top Plate for XY Carriage
- Fix issue where Full X travel could not be met, close to X0
- Drop NEMA23 support, internal testing has deemed it to be extremely overkill
- Add Stiffening Rods to the Top Plates on the XY Carriage, reduces tool wobble
- Revise the Z endstop, brush is now height adjustable
- Drop Duet3 Support, RRF3 is not stable enough as of current to recommend
- Add experimental 16t XY drive/idler pulley support
Masherbrum (K1) - Release 1 - Alpha 6
Changes from Alpha 5
- Even lighter toolhead, now reinforced by carbon fiber 5mm shafting
- Relocate electronics to rear
- Most of frame members have changed
- Most of the panels have changed
- Gantry to 4040 members
- Bed support rails to 2040
- Z travel has been reduced by 20mm in the interest of greatly increasing gantry rigidity and reducing chance of deformation on any crashing
note: re-released on 05-08-2020 to actually include correct DXFs of panels
Masherbrum (K1) - Release 1 - Alpha 5
Changes from Alpha 4
- refactor XY towers to strengthen, reduce material usage, use less lengths of fasteners, and allow easier servicing of idlers and motors.
- refactor Z towers to allow easier replacement of Z motors and strengthen overall assembly
- solidify XY tensioner/rail mount top cap, add washers to reduce chance of plastic deformation and creep
- refactor XY rail holder, tighten tolerances and add stress relief features
- refactor XY carriage: lighten by 100g, deck plate per extruder option, alter part cooling ducts for 10% more performance (per FEA) allowing better PLA cooling support
- temporarily remove support for ascender, it will return with further testing
- Duet3 is no longer supported, the software is too broken to recommend support at this time
- Z ballscrew/rail blocks now use through bolts instead of heat set inserts, stronger per FEA by 8%
- add WAGO mounting brackets for 24VDC and 120VAC into electrical box
- minor adjustments to all heat stake holes, should reduce oozing of plastic on install
- Z motors are now in the chamber of the machine, allowing 100mm shorter ballscrews
- Support for NEMA23s on Z removed, may return in a future release. Testing has deemed these unnecessary.
This will be the last alpha release, all future release 1 releases will be betas.

Changes from Alpha 3
- add emergency stop bed/gantry over travel stops under bed
- add Slice Engineering Mosquito Support
- add TL Dragon Support
- add Magnetic Coupled Z Probe with Dock
- Hotend bolts in from bottom instead of top, removal of extruder no longer required
- add hinges for front panel
- unify bed design with K2
- add thru bolts to XYZ towers to strengthen parts
- modify xy tool top plate to allow more clearance around fans when ascender is installed
- update pin definitions in config to be correct for SKR1.3

- new panel clips for sides and back
- update skirts to match panel clips
- slots in the xy belt tensioning mechanism on the right side
- new filament switch mounting method
- duet3 support (no config, just brackets)

- add blind joint holes (manually drill post purchase) for gantry tower posts (forgot to model)
- add template for said blind joint holes

Project Masherbrum (K1 for short) is a Medium Format, Direct Drive, Fully Enclosed FDM Printer.
This is an entirely scratch design, based on the efforts of the "Hypercube Overkill Project" for the XY Motion System

- 9mm Belts on XY, 1204 Ballscrews on Z to lift gantry

- LDO Stepper Motors (Optional but Recommended)
- NEMA17 Motors XY, NEMA17 or NEMA23 Z
- Minimal Printed Parts (ABS Required, Filled Nylon Recommended)
- 32 bit controller standard (Dual SKRs)
- 24V Power Standard
- AC Heated Bed, 12mm MIC6 Plate with Magnetic Build Surface
