no live image on website

Silly question time and Im sure its to do with directories in the FTP setting file.

my website is www.skippyinspace.com/ allsky
FileZilla shows the directory as / allsky and then /allsky/keograms etc
using SFTP to upload and credentials are good

So what should my settings be in the config settings files

You'll need to try different settings since different FTP servers behave differently.
If FileZilla shows the top level to be "/" with an "allsky" directory in it, then first try "IMAGE_DIR=/allsky".
On my FTP server that doesn't work and I have to use "IMAGE_DIR=allsky" (without the leading "/").

Entering http://www.skippyinspace.com/allsky/ in a browser brought me to your Allsky website. Clicking on the startrails button on the left showed a bunch of startrails at http://www.skippyinspace.com/allsky/startrails.
However, entering http://www.skippyinspace.com/startrails/ in a browser brought me to a startrails page with only one startrail, so I'd guess at the root of your FTP server you have:

• /allsky
  • /allsky/startrails
  • /allsky/keogram
• /startrails
• /keogram

Is your website on your Pi or a separate machine? If on your Pi, I believe the reason you're not getting your image is that your config.js file has: imageName: "image.jpg", and it should be imageName: "current/image.jpg", or imageName: "/current/image.jpg",

How did you install the allsky website?

Thanks for the help, I honestly dont know where the website is installed as I installed it back in 2020, though I have found directories on my PC for June 2020. I updated the pi software in Nov 2021 but haven't installed the website software on the pi. Ill have a look later and see Ian

@Skippyinspace The Allsky WebUI goes in /var/www/html, and the Allsky website (with the Cassiopeia icon on the left) goes in /var/www/html/allsky. The website can also be installed on other computers.
If you get to your WebUI by entering a URL like http://localhost, then http://localhost/allsky would get you to the Allsky website, if it's installed.

BTW, it wasn't a silly question. It's a good one, and one that many people struggle with. I probably need create a Wiki page dedicated to it.

Ok Have done a full reinstall with the latest version. but have left the Clearly, the Config.JS file that is being referenced in the Index.HTML file is wrong as it has Peterhead in it (Bit Not Peterhead ING which I Changed it too) Also the image is Thomas old default one so clearly the image file. Ive left the origin startrail files etc in place which is why there are files in those directories What files / directory should be uploaded to the webhost. Ie does the directory under var need to be loaded or is it just whats under home/allsky The Camera is running and I can put its IP address but hot getting anything with allsky.local Im sure its an easy fix but have no idea now how to fix Ian

@Skippyinspace Not sure I understand this post. The first sentence is incomplete.

What is "Peterhead"?

The only time Thomas's image ever appears is the very first time you visit the website before your own image has been uploaded.

I believe the way to install the Allsky website on a remote server is to download the source files from this repository: https://github.com/thomasjacquin/allsky-website.git onto your server.
Most people create an "allsky" directory on their web server which contains the same files as /var/www/html/allsky on the Pi.
The files in /home/pi/allsky are what take the images and only run on a Pi.

http://allsky.local is only used if you have the website on your Pi. Your website is at http://www.skippyinspace.com/allsky/, correct? Or did you install it on your Pi? The page that comes up at http://www.skippyinspace.com/allsky/ shows the camera information but without actual values. That usually indicates a bug or a configuration problem.

@Skippyinspace Try running "lftp" manually. That error indicates a problem logging in. Are you using ftp, ftps, or sftp?

You might need to Google "Host key verification failed". That's not an Allsky problem, it's an FTP issue.
