issue: As a user, I want it to be as easy as possible to rapidly prototype intersections without needing to manually size and position the intersection and all 4 intersecting approaches;

some notes:

  • Build from scratch
    • If given 2 existing streets in both direction
    • Place the square of the asphalt and shape in between
  • Automagic
    • Dialog box - what is the width of street A, what is width of street B + how many feet beyond roadway is the sidewalk
    • Wizard and/or chat interface to allow users to specify intersection conditions prior to creation
Sliders to maximize different attributes – ped safety vs. vehicle throughput vs. transit reliability vs. family friendly bike facilities, etc.
  • Prefab
    • Create some in advance - top 3 or top 5 designs
    • Protected intersection
      • Have the elements placed in the prefab but with individual elements to allow me to shrink and move the curve / bike lane
  • Design issues (high prio)
    • Sidewalk corner
      • Rounded curb
      • 2 curb ramps
      • 1 curb ramp
      • 1 curb ramp
  • SYMBOLIC MODEL IS OK
    • Ie curb ramp (yellow truncated domes) representative but not exactly aligned with curb geometry
